According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 1,083,772 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in Tennessee, which was 15.68% of the total Tennessee population.

Shelby County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (475,074), followed by Davidson County (171,489), and Hamilton County (63,979). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Pickett County (8), Van Buren County (20), and Fentress County (25).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identify as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone, Shelby County had the highest percentage (51.10%), followed by Haywood County (50.34%), and Hardeman County (39.86%).
