According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 1,578,090 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in Virginia, which was 18.28% of the total Virginia population.

Fairfax County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (108,339), followed by Henrico County (96,332), and Prince William County (94,939). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Highland County (2), Craig County (11), and Dickenson County (48).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identify as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone, Petersburg city had the highest percentage (73.32%), followed by Emporia city (62.97%), and Greensville County (58.08%).
