According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 1,154,142 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in New Jersey, which was 12.43% of the total New Jersey population.

Essex County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (324,081), followed by Union County (112,261), and Camden County (95,135). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Sussex County (2,858), Hunterdon County (3,030), and Cape May County (3,305).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identify as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone, Essex County had the highest percentage (37.52%), followed by Union County (19.51%), and Mercer County (18.68%).
