According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 1,775,612 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in Illinois, which was 13.86% of the total Illinois population.
Cook County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (1,185,601), followed by Will County (79,256), and St. Clair County (76,013). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Scott County (5), Calhoun County (7), and Hardin County (11).
When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identify as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (30.76%), followed by St. Clair County (29.53%), and Pulaski County (28.15%).
