Maine Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020
According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the Maine voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 16,949 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 1.53% of the total voting-age population of Maine.
Cumberland County had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (7,955), followed by Androscoggin County (3,686), and York County (1,491).
On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Piscataquis County (47), Waldo County (107), and Washington County (129).
In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Androscoggin County had the highest percentage, with 4.20% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Cumberland County (3.22%), and Penobscot County (0.92%).
