New Mexico Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the New Mexico voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 34,444 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 2.10% of the total voting-age population of New Mexico.

Bernalillo County had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (16,030), followed by Doña Ana County (2,993), and Sandoval County (2,431).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Harding County (4), De Baca County (7), and Hidalgo County (12).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Curry County had the highest percentage, with 5.91% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Otero County (3.99%), and Lea County (3.84%).
