South Dakota Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the South Dakota voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 11,645 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 1.74% of the total voting-age population of South Dakota.

Minnehaha County had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (7,075), followed by Pennington County (1,097), and Lincoln County (662).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Ziebach County (0), Perkins County (0), and Kingsbury County (0).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Minnehaha County had the highest percentage, with 4.78% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Bon Homme County (1.82%), and Brookings County (1.72%).
