According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2012, the number of deaths for Massachusetts was 52,396. Middlesex County had the highest number of deaths (10,690), followed by Worcester County (6,492), and Essex County (6,140). On the other hand, Nantucket County had the lowest number of deaths (70), followed by Dukes County (134), and Franklin County (643).
