Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 2,963,959 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Texas and they represented 11.56% of the total population of Texas in 2011. Harris County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (774,167), followed by Dallas County (531,611), and Tarrant County (272,847). On the other hand, Roberts County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (0), followed by Loving County (0), and King County (0).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Jefferson County had the highest percentage (33.64%), followed by Houston County (25.7%), and Waller County (25.68%).
