According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2021, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for Alaska was -2.83. Matanuska-Susitna Borough had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (28.22), followed by Yakutat City and Borough (27.3), and Southeast Fairbanks Borough (21.55). On the other hand, Skagway Borough had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-72.96), followed by Northwest Arctic Borough (-34.08), and Lake and Peninsula Borough (-28.58).
