According to the US Census Bureau estimates, in 2011, the net migration rate per 1,000 population for Nebraska was 0.68. Thomas County had the highest net migration rate per 1,000 population (69.94) followed by McPherson County (27.52), and Deuel County (22.67). On the other hand, Banner County had the lowest net migration rate per 1,000 population (-48.74), followed by Rock County (-25.96), and Gosper County (-22.83).

Net migration rate for a county refers to the difference between the number of migrants, both domestic and international, moving to the county and those leaving the county per 1,000 of the county's mid-year population.
