US Number and Rate of Fatal Drug Overdose Deaths Involving All Drugs By State in 2024 (CDC)

Based on data from the CDC, the overall number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving All Drugs in the US in 2024 was 53,336, and the age adjusted rate per 100,000 persons was 24.3. These overall values was based on data from 43 jurisdictions (i.e. states and DC).

Among all states with data, New York had the highest number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving All Drugs (4,194), followed by Pennsylvania (3,323), Ohio (3,135), and Washington (2,988).

In terms of the age-adjusted rate of fatal drug overdose deaths involving All Drugs per 100K persons, West Virginia had the highest (46.3), followed by Alaska (45.7), and Nevada (41.5).
