Based on data from the CDC, the overall number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Heroin in the US in 2021 was 5,745, and the age adjusted rate per 100,000 persons was 3.8. These overall values was based on data from 33 jurisdictions (i.e. states and DC).

Among all states with data, Pennsylvania had the highest number of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Heroin (719), followed by New Jersey (573), Virginia (463), and Georgia (405).

In terms of the age-adjusted rate of fatal drug overdose deaths involving Heroin per 100K persons, Alaska had the highest (14.5), followed by New Mexico (10.4), and Delaware (9.6).
