HAT Category VIII Task Stunning effectiveness. At 0945 hours, the slaughter employee fired at a yak, I was standing in the smoke house room as per the Firearm Discharge Warning System, I could just see the edge of the knocking chute and was able to see that the yak did not drop. The employee immediately discharged a second shot, approximately 5 seconds, the yak dropped and was rendered unconscious. Calvin Wineland, owner, was notified of the forthcoming Non-compliance Report. This is a failure to meet the regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.16(a)(1).
