Trenton Halal Packing Company: Non-Compliance to Humane Livestock Handling in 2021 (USDA)

Today July 8, 2021, at 12:20pm at est. M17776, Trenton Halal, while performing Humane Handling tasks, I, Dr. REDACTED, SPHV observed a deviation to the regulations. Six goats were confined since the start of the lunch time at 12:00 without access to water. I then informed the floor manager, REDACTED of the situation and this record of noncompliance. The manager immediately addressed the situation by releasing the confined goats to the larger holding pen where water was available. This is in violation to 313.2 Handling of livestock (e). This NR is being associated with NR BBE3109051424N, from 5/24 where water was also not accessible to some lambs. No response has been offered by the plant for this previous violation. As a future preventive measure, Mr. REDACTED stated, that rather than relying on his workers to prevent this, he will personally and directly check that all animals have access to water before breaks and lunchtimes.

At approximately 10:00 on 5/24/2021, while conducting a Livestock Humane Handling review and observation task at Trenton Halal (Est. 17776), I, CSI REDACTED inspected the establishment holding pens during goat and lamb slaughter operations and observed the following: Approximately 15 lambs had no access to water, These 15 lambs were there at least 20 to 30 min with no water, from the time they were unloaded off the truck. This is a humane handling non-compliance of 9 CFR 313.2(e) since the establishment failed to provide the animals access to water in the holding pens. Once the humane handling non-compliance was found, floor supervisor REDACTED was informed of the non-compliance, who then immediately took corrective actions providing water to the affected livestock.
