HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness On 11/17/21, at approximately 0840, a large gilt was loaded into the knock box and squeezed to minimize movement. The stun operator delivered an initial stun attempt with a pistol style hand held captive bolt device which was ineffective as evidenced by the animal remained standing with tracking eye movement. The stun operator retrieved the backup inline captive bolt stun device and discharged again. This was again ineffective as the animal remained standing with tracking eye movement. The stun operator then reloaded the inline captive bolt device and successfully rendered the animal insensible on the third attempt, and it remained so thereafter. IPP tagged the knock box with U.S. Rejected tag# B37935033 and plant owner, REDACTED, was notified of the regulatory control action and of the noncompliance.
