HATS Category VIII Stunning Effectiveness At approximately 0914 at Blue Sky RE LLC Establishment #47506 (mobile slaughter unit at Guntown, MS site), I, MSTA inspector REDACTED, observed the establishment move a beef heifer into the knock box and restrained with head gate. The initial stun attempt with a .25cal Handheld Captive Bolt device sounded somewhat muted, and was observed to contact the animal, but was ineffective, as the animal remained standing. The animal did not vocalize. The stun operator immediately retrieved the backup .25cal HHCB device, and delivered an immediate and effective corrective action stun, which rendered the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. The establishment was notified of the non-compliance with 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1) and 9 CFR 313.15(a)(3) and the knock box was tagged with USDA Reject #B-45-505471.
