HATS Category VIII Stunning Effectiveness On 09/06/2022 at approximately 0909 hours while performing HATS verification activities on the Kill Floor I, CSI REDACTED, observed establishment personnel move a hog into the knock box. The initial stun attempt using a 22 Magnum rifle was observed to contact the animal and was ineffective, as the animal remained standing and vocalizing. The employee immediately recognized the attempt was unsuccessful and steadied himself and delivered a second stun attempt with the same weapon which rendered the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. I immediately tagged the knock box with U.S. Rejected/Retained Tag #B3865363 and notified REDACTED (HACCP Coordinator) of the noncompliance.

HATS Category VIII Stunning Effectiveness On 8/23/2022 at approximately 0852 hours while performing HATS verification activities on the Kill Floor I, CSI REDACTED, observed establishment personnel attempt to stun a hog. The initial stun was made using a 22 Magnum rifle and was ineffective as the animal remained standing and vocalizing. The employee immediately recognized the attempt was unsuccessful and steadied himself and delivered a second stun attempt with the same weapon which rendered the animal insensible and it remained so thereafter. I immediately tagged the knock box with U.S. Rejected/Retained Tag #B25705779 and notified REDACTED (HACCP Coordinator) of the noncompliance.

HATS Category III - Water and Feed Availability: On 08/16/2022 at approximately 0800 hours while performing the Humane Handling task I, SPHV REDACTED, and CSI REDACTED observed the following noncompliance. We observed 2 cows in the barn with no access to water. I observed no troughs, buckets or any other form of water holding container in the pen. REDACTED, HACCP Coordinator, was notified of the noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.2(e). Immediate corrective actions were taken by the establishment to provide water. A similar noncompliance was documented on 7/12/2022.

HATS Category III - Water and Feed Availability: On 07/12/2022 at approximately 0740 hours while performing the Humane Handling task I, CSI REDACTED, observed the following noncompliance. I observed 2 cows with no access to water. I observed no troughs, buckets or any other form of water holding container in the pen. REDACTED, HACCP Coordinator, was notified of the noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.2(e). Immediate corrective actions were taken by the establishment to provide water.

HATS Category VIII Stunning Effectiveness - At approximately 0953 hours, while performing HATS verification activities in the slaughter processing area I, CSI REDACTED, observed plant personnel attempt to stun a hog. The initial stun was made using a .22 Magnum rifle and was ineffective as the animal remained standing. The employee immediately recognized the attempt was unsuccessful and steadied himself and delivered a second stun attempt with the same weapon with the same results. Again, the employee immediately repositioned and delivered an immediate and effective third stun with the same weapon which rendered the animal insensible and it remained so thereafter. I immediately tagged the knock box with U.S. Rejected/Retained Tag #: B25705930 and notified REDACTED (HAACP Coordinator) of the noncompliance.
