Category II Truck Unloading On July 13, 2022 at approximately 0710 while performing observation of Category II Truck unloading humane handling directed task, I, SPHV REDACTED and CSI REDACTED observed the following noncompliance. I observed a pickup truck backed up to the ramp of the unloading facility. The driver of the pickup was attempting to unload four market swine. He had been attempting to push the swine into the unloading chute for approximately three minutes. I observed the driver pick up one of the pigs by the tail and lift it up approximately 12-18 inches. The pig increased its squealing. I instructed the driver to put the pig down and not grab tails. The tail was visibly erythematous. The driver proceeded to use a panel for moving the swine into the unloading chute. The establishment employees did not intervene. I informed Kill Floor Supervisor REDACTED of the issuance of the noncompliance and issuance of this noncompliance report. All swine were unloaded by approximately 0714 without further incidence. A regulatory control action was taken by placing U.S. Rejected tag B-45 200538 on the knocking box, at approximately 0714. I informed Owner REDACTED of this noncompliance at approximately 0719. Owner REDACTED implemented corrective actions of informing the producer of the incident and recommending humane handling education. Owner REDACTED provided the preventative measure of having only establishment employees unload animals. Regulatory control was released at approximately 0816.
