HATS Category IV: Antemortem Handling On 03/02/2022, at approximately 1240 hours while I was performing an ante-mortem handling humane handling verification task in the holding pen area at Stoney Point Butchery, est. M9646 I observed the following noncompliance. I observed two employees inside the pen trying to bring a boar (around 650 lbs.) into the stunning area. One employee was trying to use a hog board to move the boar which didn’t want to move. At that point, the hog was not moving so he began to punch the boar with a closed fist. The employee hit the boar 3 times with full punches around the neck area and one full punch in the face. The punches were extremely fast. The hog tried to move away from the punches by turn its head. I immediately called for the employees to stop and then tagged the knock tag number B26812535. I informed Plant Manager REDACTED of the reject tag and that I would be notifying my chain of command for further instructions. This is noncompliant with 9 CFR 313.2
