On May 4, 2022, approximately 0800 hours, Dr. REDACTED performed the Humane Handling Verification. During the verification Dr. REDACTED observed some noncompliance’s in pens #6, #1, #1N and pens corridor. The findings are the following: On the pens #6, bottom Left tube –approximately 2 feet of exposed, rusty, with sharp edges. This can be observed from the inside and outside of the pen + Metal plate approximately 3 ft x 2 ft in length and located 9 ft from the described tube (can be observed from the inside). On the pens #1, rusty with sharp edges. rusty + sharp edges – observed from inside and outside the pen – approximately 1 1⁄2 ft in length (bottom aspect located in the middle of the pen). Pens #1N, rusty + sharp edges – on door bottom and right corner. In addition, the rusty lamp – about 4 ft in length and 6 inches wide --- hanging from a thread in the middle of pens corridor just 2 ft above my head. Facilities and safety issue for animals and personnel. These findings failure to meet the HATS Category IV: Ante-Mortem regulatory requirements of the 9 CFR 313.1 (a) and (b) Facilities are not maintained in good repair or may otherwise lead to animal injury. Mr. REDACTED was informed of the noncompliance’s and the issuance of a noncompliance report.
