Non-Compliance Description:

On 8/28/2023, at approximately 1230 hours while verifying Humane Handling- Water and Feed I, CSI, REDACTED observed the following non-compliance: Upon entry to the lower barn where beef were being held there was observed to be no water available to 1 beef in the first gate, after walking approximately 12ft down to the second gate where 4 beef were being held there was observed to be no water made available as well. Approximately 3ft from the 2nd gate in the animal runway there was a single beef that also had no access to water. In total all 6 beef in the lower barn area had no water. Slaughter floor Supervisor REDACTED was immediately notified about the lack of water, and he proceeded to fill the water troughs. This is in non-compliance with 9CFR 313.2 (e) " Animals shall have access to water in all holding pens and, if held longer than 24 hours, access to feed. There shall be sufficient room in the holding pen for animals held overnight to lie down". REDACTED was also immediately notified of the above non-compliance, as the owner REDACTED was not present.
