HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness At approximately 3:30PM, while performing a livestock humane handling task and observing conditions on the kill floor, establishment personnel moved a large breeding boar into the knocking box. The stun operator delivered two successive stun attempts with a handheld captive bolt device, and the animal succumbed following the second stun attempt. IPP (CSI REDACTED) applied a tag to the knock box that was being used with US retain tag #B27772331. IPP followed the chain of command and notified the immediate supervisor. Plant management was also notified of the non-compliance and of the regulatory control action.

HATS Category VIII: Stunning Effectiveness On December 15, 2022, at approximately 1150 hours, CSI REDACTED and Food Inspector REDACTED observed an incident at Hampton Premium Meats, in which a large sow was loaded into the cattle knock box instead of the regular pork knock box. A single stun attempt with a handheld captive bolt (HHCB) device was delivered to the sow, but was ineffective, as evidenced by the animal remained standing and alert. The establishment stun operator retrieved the backup HHCB device and delivered an immediate and effective corrective action stun, which rendered the animal insensible, and it remained so thereafter. U.S. Retained tag #B19644490 was placed on the knock box and Plant Supervisor, REDACTED, was informed of the observed non-compliance and of the regulatory control action
