Non-Compliance Description:

On Thursday 6/22/2023, Dr. REDACTED, District Veterinary Medical Specialist, performed Harvester Meat Company's initial Humane Handling inspection visit. Upon inspection of the livestock pens, Dr. REDACTED, DVMS, observed the following in the designated suspect pen: 1. The metal siding on the wall is bent/damaged in several places, creating a sharp edge that could injure livestock. 2. Multiple bolts protruding from the metal siding have hair caught on them from cattle, points of concern that could cause injury or pain to livestock. The suspect pen was empty at the time of these observations. These observations are in violation of the following regulation: 313.1(a): "Livestock pens, driveways and ramps shall be maintained in good repair. They shall be free from sharp or protruding objects which may, in the opinion of the inspector, cause injury or pain to the animals." Reject Tag# B-45860521 was placed on the suspect pen. Owner REDACTED was notified of the noncompliant findings, and informed that a NR would be documented.
