At approximately 0850 hours while I was performing the Livestock Humane Handling task, I observed the following noncompliance. I observed approximately 60 live animals (beef, lamb and goats) in pen #s 1-5 with no access to water. I also observed 4 cows in the unloading area with no access to water. On the front gate of pen #1, I observed sharp metals pointed to the inside of pen#1and to the alleyway the plant uses to move cows to the knock box for slaughter. I immediately placed the Rejected tag #B40847607 on the damage gate. The gate is also the wall on the right side of the alleyway. Any animal moving through the pen to the slaughter floor might be injured by the protruding metal. I did not observe any cows in pen #1 or the plant using the chute alleyway at the time of my inspection. I immediately notified supervisor REDACTED of the noncompliance and I showed him the findings mentioned above. The plant moved the damage gate to avoid cows getting injure and provided water to the livestock in my presence.
