HATS Category #8 On December 8th, 2023 at approximately 1030 while performing post-mortem inspection, I, REDACTED, observed the following noncompliance: After a first stunning attempt by captive bolt, the lamb was not rendered unconscious and remained standing. The lamb did not vocalize or appear in distress, and began to move toward the holding area. The employee immediately took corrective action and applied a second captive bolt shot on the animal. The animal was rendered unconscious after the second discharge of the captive bolt. REDACTED was notified of the noncompliance. This noncompliance fails to meet regulatory requirements of 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1).
