Non-Compliance Description:

On 2/12/24 at approximately 7:40 am I found the following noncompliance during my Livestock Humane Handling inspection (Specifically HATS Category III-Water and Feed Availability) prior to inspected slaughter: 13 hogs were found all together in pen #1 lying alongside and partially on top of each other due to the limited space available for that pen and the number of hogs in that pen. The hogs were lying so close to each other that the water trough was not even visible. I notified REDACTED and REDACTED of my findings immediately. They proceeded to sort and split the hogs between 2 pens (pen 1 and pen 2) to provide adequate spacing. Pen 2 was empty but already had water available, however, when the hogs were sorted from pen 1 the water trough that was hidden was completely out of water. Water was then added to pen 1 and additional water to pen 2. The plant failed to meet 313.2(e) The following noncompliance was found: 313.2(e)
