Non-Compliance Description:

Hats Category IV: Ante-mortem stress and discomfort; 9 CFR: 313.2(a) At approximately 7:50am I, Dr. REDACTED was confronted by a wild boar loose in the area between building when getting ready to exit the shipping office after doing a walkthrough of production. It took approximately 15 minutes to contain said boar back into the pens. After the boar was contained REDACTED, QA Supervisor, notified us that the boar got out due to jumping on top of several other boars in the cage and jumping over the 6-foot gate and under the bar that runs over the gate at approximately 8 feet high. I was notified by REDACTED, Plant Supervisor, that the plant would be adding bars above the pens to prevent this from happening again over the weekend. Due to the pens being inadequate to contain the boars a NR is being issues and REDACTED was notified of this.

Non-Compliance Description:

HATS category III: Water/Feed availability; 9 CFR 313.2 (e). On 02/29/2024 at approximately 8:20 am PHV, Dr. REDACTED, observed the following noncompliance at the feral swine holding pen of establishment 47104B, Fort Worth Meat Packers. There was a water trough in the feral swine holding area before the feral swine were led into the knock box. This water trough was the sole source of access to water in the holding pen and was observed to be completely empty. There were approximately 50 feral swine in the holding pen. The swine did not have access to water. This is a violation of the cited regulation. Kill floor supervisor, Mr. REDACTED, responded and confirmed my finding. I informed Mr. REDACTED that a noncompliance record would be issued for this deficiency. As an immediate corrective measure, the plant personnel immediately filled the water trough.
