Non-Compliance Description:

Hats Category VIII : 9CFR 313.15(b)(1)((iii) Adequate restraint, stunning area design and construction Today at approximately 0930 hours, I was called to the small kill floor by FI REDACTED for a situation during restraining of a Iberico swine. The swine was not adequately restrained in the restraining box for knocking down during the slaughter process. The establishment didn’t attempt to knock down swine before it happened. The swine came out of the restraining box at the kill floor and walked towards the legger station. The swine moved approximately 40-50 feet from the restraining box to the legger station. The swine was not vocalizing or showing any signs of distress or excitement. Thereafter, the swine was knocked down at the first attempt by Mr. REDACTED Supervisor kill floor behind the legger station. I notified Mr REDACTED QA along with Supervisor Mr. REDACTED present at the small Kill floor that a non-compliance would be issued for the violation cited above. There is no recent HH non- compliance for the last many months. The plant is operating under Robust Systematic Approach of Livestock as well. QA REDACTED stated that we are changing to a new lock at the restraining box to avoid this situation again.
