Non-Compliance Description:

On June 14, 2024, at approximately 1303 hours, while performing HATS Category IV- Antemortem inspection. I, CSI REDACTED, observed a noncompliance with HATS category V- Suspects and Disabled. In the circle pen there was a hog standing and severely shaking. A group of approximately twenty-five hogs was observed running directly toward the stressed animal. Several of them passed over, inadvertently bumping into, and causing the animal to fall to the floor. From the distance I was positioned, it was not possible to discern if the animal was vocalizing, but I could clearly see that the hog was gasping heavily. I immediately notified the Barns Red Hat REDACTED, who assisted me with the antemortem inspection. Mr. REDACTED promptly ceased running more animals into the circle pen to prevent further distress to the hog. The immediate corrective action taken was to remove the distressed hog from the circle pen using the skid loader, and the animal was placed in a safe hallway to rest. Upon my observation, no visible external injuries were observed on the distress animal. I requested the presence of a supervisor; Senior Animal Welfare Specialist REDACTED came to the area. I informed her of my observations and notified her of the forthcoming NR. SCSI REDACTED and the FLS REDACTED were also notified of this finding.
