313.15(b)(1)(iii)
Hats Category VIII: Adequate restraint, stunning area design and construction; 9CFR 313.15(b)(1)(iii) On July 15, 2025, at approximately 0119 hours, CSI REDACTED, observed a veal walking away from the knocking box. The animal did not appear to be in any stress or excited. The veal walked approximately 30 feet from the knocking box before 4 employees managed to corner the veal and restrain the animal on the kill floor. The animal was ritually slaughtered by making an incision across the throat. The employee informed me that the veal was too small and jumped out of the knocking box. CSI REDACTED took regulatory control action by rejecting the knocking box with U.S. Rejected tag #B30941767. CSI REDACTED notified FSQA Coordinator Mr. REDACTED who was already present at the kill floor that a HH noncompliance will be issued. These conditions failed to meet the regulatory requirements of 9CFR 313.15(b)(1)(iii)
