HATS CATEGORY VIII - Stunning Effectiveness On August 20, 2025, I, CSI REDACTED was performing a Livestock Humane Handling Verification Task at M40253 Downing Cattle Company and observed the following non-compliance. At approximately 1058 hours, I witnessed the establishment move a market swine into the knock box. While restrained, a stun attempt utilizing a .22 long rifle was observed to contact the animal but was ineffective, as the swine remained standing and vocalized twice. The establishment immediately delivered an effective corrective action stun, rendering the swine insensible, and it remained so thereafter. A US reject tag, B31985305, was immediately placed on the chute and I notified the establishment owner, Mr. REDACTED, of the non-compliance.
