On 4/21/2025 at approximately 0710 hours, I, REDACTED (CSI) observed the following Humane Handling non-compliance at M53882: HATS Category III: Water and Feed Availability Kingdom Provisions, Est. M53882, held 24 lambs over the weekend. These lambs were delivered on Friday morning, 4/18/2025. While performing ante-mortem inspection with REDACTED this morning, I asked what pen the lambs had been held in over the weekend. REDACTED informed me that although they were currently in pen 6, that they had been held in pen 7 since Friday. Pen 7 did not have any evidence of feed/hay. I asked REDACTED when they had been fed and he knew for sure they had gotten hay on Saturday but needed to verify with REDACTED about if they had been given hay on Sunday, since REDACTED was the person tasked with feeding over the weekend. At approximately 0800 hours, I asked REDACTED in front of REDACTED and the Plant Manager, REDACTED, if the lambs had been fed on Sunday. REDACTED informed me that they had not received hay since Saturday night. I immediately informed the establishment that they would be receiving an NR for feed availability since the lambs had not been fed in over 24 hours. The lambs were all ambulatory on ante-mortem inspection and did not appear to be distressed. The lambs had 24/7 access to water given that the establishment utilizes automatic waterers in every pen. This is non-compliant with 9 CFR 313.2(e). REDACTED, Plant Manager, was notified verbally and in writing of this non-compliance. There are no similar non-compliances on file.
