On September 16, 2025, at approximately 3:15 PM, while performing HAT category VIII task, I, CSI REDACTED, witnessed the stun operator Mr. REDACTED stunning a pig in the restraint box with a captive bolt. During this process, I noted that the first stunning attempt failed to render the animal unconscious, leading to vocalizations and attempts to escape, as well as noticeable blood from a wound on the animal’s head. A second stun attempt with a different captive bold device was successful in rendering the pig into unconsciousness. Following this event, I informed the personnel that a noncompliance report would be issued for the plant failure to comply with 9 CFR 313.15(a)(1) and requested that a management representative come to speak with me so that I may inform them as well. Subsequently, I contacted my supervisor, SCSI REDACTED, to discuss the necessary next steps. Following his guidance, I tagged the knock box. After receiving confirmation to do so, I removed tag NO.B-45676157, allowing them to resume the harvest of the remaining pigs. There have been no related noncompliance reports in the last 90 days.
