HATS Category 8: Stunning Effectiveness On or about 1:27 pm 07-09-2025 on the slaughter floor at Marksbury Farm Foods, LLC (Est. 40041) while performing a Humane Handling Task, SVMO REDACTED observed the following: A cull sow was driven into the swine chute and the floor was dropped out and three 9 second electrical head stuns were applied followed by one captive bolt stun. The sow was dropped on the floor with no signs of consciousness and a bleeding stick was performed. The sow lay on the floor for a short time and stood up, thus fully demonstrating the righting reflex. The slaughter floor supervisor immediately applied a second captive bolt stun rendering the sow insensitive to pain. At that time, the swine chute was tagged with USDA Reject Tag B7289457 and Slaughter Floor Supervisor REDACTED was informed of the Humane Handling violation and the forthcoming noncompliance record.

Hats Category IV: Ante-Mortem Inspection On November 25, 2024, at Marksbury Farm Foods, Est #M40041 at approximately 7:03am while conducting the livestock humane handling verification task, I, CSI REDACTEDobserved, in Pen #9 & 10 broken fence panels. Each had protruding metal sticking out and bent into the pen posing a danger to livestock. I issued U.S. Rejected Tag # B-46 539000 in the area and notified establishment Production Manager REDACTED, Slaughter Floor Manager REDACTED and Quality Manager REDACTED, of the non-compliance with 9 CFR 313.1(a).

I placed a U.S. Rejected Tag # B-46 012005 in the area and notified establishment Quality REDACTED, and Production Manager REDACTED, of the non-compliance with 9 CFR 313.1(a).
