Non-Compliance Description:

On 01-23-2025 while performing a “Livestock Humane Handling” task at approximately 0837 hours the following noncompliance was observed. Inspection was observing livestock in the holding pen area as an establishment employee was preparing to drive an animal to the knock box for slaughter. At this time inspection observed another animal in a holding pen slip and fall onto the floor of the holding pen. After further inspection it was determined that the floor of the holding pen was wet and covered in feces. The regulatory requirements of 9CFR313.1(b) were not met. Regulatory control action was taken. The holding pen was rejected with US rejected tag#B36820904. Establishment Administrator REDACTED was notified of the noncompliance and informed that it would be documented. Mr. REDACTED removed the affected animal from that holding pen, and he had the surface cleaned. After returning the holding pen to a safe operating manner regulatory control action was released. To prevent recurrence Mr. REDACTED stated that he would have the operator to monitor the holding pen more closely for slippery conditions and apply measures to prevent slips and falls. No similar noncompliance exists to link this noncompliance with.
