Non-Compliance Description:

HATS Category III- Water and Feed Availability On Thursday 5-15-25 at 10:00 am while performing a routine Humane Handling Verification Task, the following noncompliance was observed: I, the IIC, inspected the livestock pens along with the FLS and the DVMS. The establishment had goats and swine left to slaughter. On inspection, we noted that there was a pen of goats that had access to water. There were, however, 2 swine in pen #1 that had no access to water. There was no bucket or device present for holding water, and no nipple or automatic supply. We notified the establishment that the animals require access to water at all times. An establishment employee confirmed that they had arrived at about 7:00am and had not gotten water yet. A lack of access to water is a noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.2(e). I notified the plant owner of this noncompliance, and the plant took corrective actions by immediately adding a pail of water to the pen.
