The water tubs available for the hogs were tipped over and dry. Establishment Owners REDACTED and REDACTED were notified of the noncompliance. On 12/19/24 at approximately 0930 hours, I, CSI REDACTED and DVMS Dr. REDACTED observed the following noncompliance with HATS Category VII Slips and Falls. I observed a Holstein steer enter the restrainer and subsequently get its head restrained in the head restrainer. The steer proceeded to pull against the head restrainer and lose footing and slip on the grooved concrete floor, falling to its knees and sternum. An establishment employee administered an effective stun immediately after the steer fell to the floor. We informed Establishment Owner’s REDACTED and REDACTED of the noncompliance. Mr. REDACTED gave us verbal corrective actions and preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence; therefore, no further regulatory actions were taken. This is a noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.1.
