Non-Compliance Regulations:

313.1,313.2

Non-Compliance Description:

On Monday June 16, 2025, at approximately 0600 hours, while performing a HATS Category IV- Ante Mortem Inspection task, I, CSI REDACTED observed the following noncompliance. Five market pigs were in the alley. According to the pen card, they were dropped off the prior day. No water was available to the hogs in the alley. I informed Plant Manager, REDACTED He immediately provided water to the hogs. One of them drank immediately. The temperature in the barn was comfortable. This is a violation of the 9 CFR 313.2(e) because the hogs did not have access to water at all times. IPP also observed a noncompliance with 9 CFR 313.1(b). Proper footing was not provided for the hogs. All of the pens had been used the week prior for beef slaughter. There was a substantial amount of wet, fecal material remaining in the pens from the cows, which did not provide adequate footing. Additionally, the 41 hogs that were in the pens (5 were in the alley), were splattered with fecal material to about shoulder height. This is a noncompliance with 416.4(b) for failure to maintain sanitary conditions.

Inspection Category: Routine
NR Number: ORQ3508022403N-1
Non-Compliance Regulations:

313.1

Non-Compliance Description:

At approximately, 0600 hours, I, CSI REDACTED, was performing a regularly scheduled humane handling task - HATS Category IV - Ante Mortem Inspection. As I was walking past pen 5, a roaster pig escaped from below the sideboards of pen 5 and ran into pen 4 where the larger market hogs were held. Plant personnel corralled the roaster and walked it back to a different pen, where it could not escape. It was not injured. Additionally, there is a 2" × 7" hole in the cement walkway creating an unnecessary obstacle for the pigs. This is a noncompliance with 313.1(a) and (b).

Non-Compliance Regulations:

313.1

Non-Compliance Description:

At approximately, 0600 hours, I, CSI REDACTED was performing a regularly scheduled humane handling task - HATS Category IV - Ante Mortem Inspection. As I was walking past pen 2, a roaster pig escaped from below the side boards of Pen 2. Plant personnel corralled the roaster and walked it back to a different pen, where it could not escape. Additionally, there was approximately seven pieces of clear plastic ranging in size from about 6" x 6" to 9" x 9" scattered throughout the barn, including in the pens where the pigs were housed. This plastic is a potential slipping and choking hazard for the animals. There was also a four-by-four board (~5 feet) in the walkway in addition to a 12" x 7" hole in the cement walkway - both are creating unnecessary obstacles for the pigs. This is a noncompliance with 313.1(a) and (b). The plant took an immediate corrective action and picked up the plastic and the board.
