Non-Compliance Description:

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 0705, IPP REDACTED observed the following noncompliance while performing a humane handling task verification in the pen area. The North pen has five market hogs in the pen, upon observing the water tank in this same pen, it was determined that there was no water in the tank and only small amount of water in one corner of the drinking pan. Mr. REDACTED was informed of this noncompliance, and he pulled a water hose through the pen area towards the water tank. Upon moving the market hogs out of the North Pen at approximately 0750, IPP REDACTED observed the water tank again and noticed that the tank was still empty, and the water nozzle was between the pen fence and the tank. Mr. REDACTED was informed that a Noncomplinace Record would be issued for the failure to comply with 9 CFR 313.2(e), which states: Animals shall have access to water in all holding pens and, if held longer than 24 hours, access to feed. Additionally, IPP REDACTED reviewed the Humane Handling binder, and upon review of this log observed there were no entries made for this day's slaughter activities at 1340. Mr. REDACTED will be notified in writing upon receipt of this Noncompliance Record. Upon review of the previous ninety days, it has been determined that there is not another NR written for a similar root case at this time.
