According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in November 2007, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 230.689 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 5.5%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 39.6%
  2. Alcoholic beverages: 10.5%
  3. Food away from home: 8.3%
