According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in May 2021, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 291.667 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 3.8%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 44.4%
  2. New and used motor vehicles: 13.2%
  3. Food away from home: 13.1%
