According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in March 2011, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 242.787 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 4.6%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 27.5%
  2. Household energy: 7.7%
  3. Alcoholic beverages: 5.1%
