According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in November 2011, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 245.03 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 3.6%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 17.6%
  2. Food at home: 5.3%
  3. Household energy: 5.3%
