According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in May 2017, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 266.256 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 3.7%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Household energy: 10.3%
  2. Food away from home: 5.5%
  3. Motor fuel: 4.4%
