According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in January 2018, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 272.229 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 5.8%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Household energy: 15.5%
  2. Motor fuel: 10.1%
  3. Food away from home: 4.6%
