According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in May 2019, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 280.937 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 5.5%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Food away from home: 4.7%
  2. Owners' equivalent rent of residences: 4.2%
  3. Rent of primary residence: 3.1%
