According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in January 2022, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 304.634 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 6.8%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 46.7%
  2. New and used motor vehicles: 31.6%
  3. Household energy: 19.2%
