According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of California was 6.9% (sa) in December, 2002. Among all California counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Colusa (19.1%), Imperial (14.4%), and Tulare (13.5%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Orange (4.7%), Marin (4.7%), and San Luis Obispo (4.8%).
