According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of California was 6.7% (sa) in May, 2008. Among all California counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Imperial (20.2%), Alpine (15.3%), and Sutter (11.5%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): San Mateo (4.3%), Napa (4.3%), and Marin (4.3%).
